Jones will be making his second title defense since winning the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 232 last December. The Rochester native is 24-1-1 in his career with 10 knockouts and six submissions. Jones defeated Anthony Smith by unanimous decision in his last fight. If Jones beats Santos on Saturday, it will be his 10th title defense, the second most title defenses in UFC history behind Demetrious Johnson.

The trajectory of Santos’ career change after he decided to move up to light heavyweight. Since moving up a weight class, Santos has won all three of his fights by knockout, winning performance bonus in each fight. In his last fight, Santos knocked out Jan Blachowicz. The Brazilian will look to continue his knockout streak against Jones.

UFC 239 live: Blachowicz also makes his return to the Octagon on Saturday when he fights Luke Rockhold,

who is making his light heavyweight debut at UFC 239. The former middleweight champion announced in December, that he was moving up to light heavyweight. Rockhold has not fought since UFC 221 on Feb. 10, 2018, when he was knocked out by Yoel Romero. The winner of the Blachowicz and Rockhold could be the next title challenger for Jones, should he successfully defend his title.

In the co-main event, Amanda Nunes defends her bantamweight title against former champion Holly Holm. The title defense will be Nunes’ fourth at 135lbs., two behind Ronda Rousey’s record of six title defenses. In her last fight, Nunes moved up to featherweight and knocked out Cris Cyborg in 51 seconds.

Holm has bounced between bantamweight and featherweight since knockout out Rousey at UFC 193 on Nov. 15, 2015. Over her last six fights, Holm has won only twice, losing three title fights and also lost to current flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. In her last fight, Holm scored a lopsided decision over Megan Anderson in a featherweight fight at UFC 225.
