The New York Rangers welcome the Calgary Flames to Madison Square Garden for a Sunday NHL tilt.
The Calgary Flames saw an opportunity at a three game winning streak go by the wayside a 5-3 loss to visiting Nashville on Friday. Calgary received their offense from Elias Lindholm, Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett. Mark Giordano logged a pair of assists but Mike Smith was charged with four goals on 30 shots to get the loss for the Flames.
The balanced Predators offense saw scoring from Ryan Johansen, Craig Smith, Kevin Fiala, Zac Rinaldo and Filip Forsberg on the empty net. Ryan Ellis and Kyle Turris added a pair of helpers each for Nashville to make a winner of Juuse Saros who stopped nine shots who came in to relieve Pekka Rinne who stopped 15-18.
The New York Rangers look to get back in the win column following a 4-3 loss at Washington on Wednesday. Mika Zibanejad, Jimmy Vesey and Chris Kreider sored for the Rangers with Neal Pionk adding three assists. Henrik Lundqvist recorded 34 saves for New York to fall to 2-3-1.
Washington saw Alex Ovechkin score a pair of second period power play goals while John Carlson scored in the first. Matt Niskanen tallied the winner in the extra session and Nicklas Backstrom added two helpers to make the Capitals and Braden Holtby winners on his 29 save effort.
