The Line: Atlanta Braves / Los Angeles Dodgers — Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves meet Monday in game four in the MLB NLDS at SunTrust Park.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have another chance to advance to the NLCS with a road victory. The Dodgers pitching staff finally caved, allowing six runs, most of them early, putting the offense in a deep hole on the road. The Los Angeles Dodgers found the offense to get back in the game, but the game felt off from the beginning and they were never able to take complete control. The Dodgers pitching staff has allowed five or more runs just nine times since August 22. Justin Turner leads the Dodgers with four hits and one RBI while Joc Pederson and Max Muncy have combined for five hits and five RBI. Rich Hill gets the ball, and he is 11-5 with a 3.66 ERA and 150 strikeouts this season. Hill is 5-0 with a 1.74 ERA and 47 strikeouts in his career against the Braves. Hill is 1-2 with a 3.48 ERA and 46 strikeouts in his postseason career.

The Atlanta Braves need one more victory to force a deciding game five on Wednesday. The Braves offense showed up for the first time this postseason, and they finally looked like the team they were this regular season. The Braves go as far as their offense takes them, and they’ve now won eight straight games when scoring more than one run. The Atlanta Braves know their identity and likely know the numbers, it’s just a matter of putting together good at bats and hitting the ball. Ronald Acuna Jr. leads the Braves with three hits and four RBI while Freddie Freeman and Ender Inciarte have combined for four hits and one RBI. Mike Foltynewicz gets the ball, and he is 13-10 with a 2.85 ERA and 202 strikeouts this season. Foltynewicz is 1-1 with a 5.56 ERA and 13 strikeouts in his career against the Dodgers. Foltynewicz is 0-1 with a 18.00 ERA and five strikeouts in his postseason career.
The Dodgers are 8-4 in their last 12 road games, 12-6 in their last 18 playoff games and 63-31 in their last 94 vs. National League East. The Braves are 4-1 in their last 5 during game 4 of a series, 8-20 in their last 28 playoff games and 1-4 in their last 5 Divisional Playoff games. The Dodgers are 4-2 in the last 6 meetings in Atlanta, 27-11 in the last 38 meetings and the under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Atlanta.
Foltynewicz was rocked around in game one of this series, but he’s been a really solid pitcher all year, which includes allowing a .191 batting average and averaging more than a strikeout per inning at home. The Dodgers have won each of the last five games Hill has pitched and he has a clear postseason experience edge. Hill is also allowing just a .193 batting average on the road this season. I’d give the under a look here. As for a side, I’m going to back the Braves simply because their offense got going. This is a young Braves team and confidence is everything. When the Braves are hitting well, they’re a scary club. I’ll give them a shot at home in a quick turnaround.
